These socks, sized to fit most adults, are worked from the toe up. The pattern features a geometric, two color, stair-step design created with a technique known as mosaic, or slip stitch, colorwork. The socks have a star toe and shadow wrapped short row heel shaping.

Mosaic knitting is likely the easiest type of colorwork because, unlike fair isle, only one color of yarn is worked at a time. The complicated looking design is basically made by knitting in alternating color stripes and slipping slipping certain stitches without working them.
